Named in honor of another Palm Springs female pioneer, Ruth Hardy, who placed her stamp literally on the landscape of the city. The very first city councilwoman, Ruth also proved herself to be a talented hotelier and original founder of the Ingleside Inn, a 20-room boutique hotel adored by the likes of Ava Gardner, Greta Garbo, Howard Hughes and Elizabeth Taylor. The consummate hostess with a love of providing a truly luxurious experience, Ruth also placed 300 palm trees all along Palm Canyon Drive - a charming way to usher in visitors to her city. Ruth ran her hotel like a private club and creatives and artists such as Harold Bell Wright and Salvador Dali were loyal guests. As her hotel became so popular you did not call for a reservation, you had to be invited, and should Mrs. Hardy consider that you failed to measure up to her standards, you were simply told there was, "no room at the Inn." The hand painted and then digitally printed, the Ruth is a wonderfully light cotton poplin pareo that guarantees beach or poolside glamour. Featuring the Palm Springs coordinates, she measures 140cm x 140cm, making her wonderfully versatile to style.
